Heriz is a village in the northwest Persian province of Azerbaijan. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Heriz and a number of satellite villages, including Bakshaish, Karaja, Goravan, Ahar and Mehriban wove small rugs, room size carpets and runners. A small number of bags were also woven in the Heriz district.

Although most rugs and carpets woven in the Heriz district are not finely woven, they are renowned for their wool and color quality and their charming geometric designs. Antique Heriz area rugs and carpets are equally well suited for traditional or modern interiors.
