10 ‘x 11’10” Antique Heriz “Serapi” Carpet, Northwest Persia, Circa 1885
An antique northwest Persian Heriz carpet of the early type often colloquially referred to as antique “Serapi” carpets. The ivory field is decorated with a denim blue and coral medallion and stylized leaves and flowers. The grass green corner spandrels are an uncommon and beautiful feature. A brick red “Turtle” design border frames the field.
