5.10 x 6.8 Antique Kazak Rug, Southwest Caucasus, Circa 1850

An early southwest Caucasian Kazak rug, probably 3rd quarter of the 19th century. The abrashed blue-green field is decorated with three “Memling Guls”, the three large medallions that extend vertically in the central part of the field. Ancillary geometric motifs also decorate the field. An ivory border with geometric forms and diamond shape motifs frame the field.

This rug, as is somewhat to be expected given the age, shows wear and has significant restoration. It is priced accordingly.
