3.9 x 5.7 Antique Northeast Caucasian Rug, Probably Kuba, Possibly Daghestan, Circa 1910

Woven in the northeast Caucasus, this rug was probably woven in the Kuba district to the west of the Caspian Sea but possibly further north in the Daghestan district. The navy blue field is decorated with seven “latch hook” or “animal head” medallions with ancillary geometric and stylized floral decoration.. A denim blue interior guard border with stylized flower head, an ivory major border with polychromatic octagons, and a green exterior guard border with stylized flower heads frame the field.

The ends retain part of the original braided fringe.

A moderately priced rug suitable for a beginning or intermediate collector or as a bold and colorful furnishing rug.
