Kurdish Bag Face, Northwest Persia, Circa 1890
Probably woven by the Jaff Kurdish tribe in northwest Persia, this large and beautifully colored bag face features the classic Diamond design in shades of light coral, deep coral, grass green, deep green, sky blue, copper, navy, ivory and brown. It retains the skirt at the bottom end and part of the brocaded finish at the top end. Animal head or latch hook motifs appear within the diamonds. An outstanding example of a classic group of Kurdish weavings.
