1 x 3 Antique Pair Of Miniature Shah Savan Soumak Bags, Probably Bidjar Area, Kurdistan Province, Northwest Persia, Circa 1890
A significant number if not majority, of “soumak” (brocade-like technique) bags woven by the Shah Savan tribe appear to have been woven in the Caucasus. However, other were woven in northwest Persia, including some that appear to have been woven in the Bidjar area in Kurdistan province.
This pair of miniature soumak bags seem to be an example from the Bidjar area.
The sky blue field with the yellow border is a beautiful combination.
