15’3″ x 20’10” Over Size Antique Bakshaish Carpet, Open Field Design, Northwest Persia, Circa 1900
A very large antique Bakshaish carpet with a classic “open field” format. The abrashed (variegated) red field contains a mid blue medallion and is framed by camel color corner spandrels decorated with multi-color motifs that are possibly stylized flowerheads. A mid blue border with alternating coral and ivory palmettes frames the field.
This carpet would be well suited for a variety of interior styles, ranging from “period” rooms to modern.
