4’8″ x 6’11” An Important Antique Mohtasham Kashan Rug, Central Persia, Circa 1880

An important, early Mohtasham Kashan rug from central Persia, circa 1880. This distinctive piece features navy blue medallions and ancillary motifs in shades of madder red and peach, along with stylized flowers and vines on an ivory field. A large scale, abrashed (variegated) navy blue border with various flowers frames the field. Some of the original silk selvedge remains.

This rug is in good general condition for the age and type but not in the superb condition that many of the important Mohtasham Kashan rugs we have had over the years have been in. It is priced accordingly and is a rare and beautiful piece for a connoisseur in terms of age and aesthetics.

If you have serious interest, please request a set of photos showing the condition more closely.
