3.3 x 16 Antique Bidjar Lion Rug Runner, Northwest Persia, Circa 1900
Antique Bidjar rugs that feature the so-called “Lion Rug” design are among the most rare of all Bidjar formats. They typically measure close to 5 feet wide by 7 feet long, with a very occasional room size carpet.
This is only the third Bidjar Lion Rug we have had in a runner format in 38 years.
The navy field is decorated with Lions, strapwork, leaves and floral motifs. The border has an interesting “reciprocal” format with madder red and variegated light and mid blue.
