4.5 x 6.8  Antique Mahal Rug, Lattice Design, Central Persia, Circa 1925

This antique Mahal rug is reminiscent of the earlier “Fereghan” rugs from the same general region in central Persia’s Sultanabad province. The earlier Fereghan rugs were generally more finely woven with lower cropped pile. This piece does feature the beautiful grass green color that is a classic feature seen in 19th century Fereghan rugs. The navy field is decorated with an all over lattice design with stylized flowers and leaves. A brick red “Turtle” border frames the field.

Generally good condition with some lower areas in pile and some restoration.
