“Open Field” design carpets can be among the most beautiful Persian carpets woven in the 19th century. This central Persian carpet was woven in Sultanabad province, possibly in the Fereghan region, and one could debate what to call it.
The “abrashed” (variegated) navy blue field contain a yellow, Quatrefoil style medallion and is framed by yellow spandrels and a brick red border with Turtle palmettes.
