Bakshaish is a village located near Heriz in northwest Persia’s Azerbaijan province. Excellent examples of small rugs and room size carpets produced in Bakshaish are among the rarest and most beautiful of all carpets woven in the Heriz district.
This outstanding carpet features an ivory medallion on a red “open field”. Deep sky blue corner spandrels and an ivory Leaf and Flowerhead border frame the field.
