4’8″ x 7’3″ Antique Bidjar Rug, Herati Design, Northwest Persia, Circa 1920

An antique Bidjar woven in northwest Persia’s Kurdistan provine. The Kurdish weavers in the 19th and early 20th centuries displayed a remarkable sense of color. The rug features the classical Herati design on a red field that contains a navy medallion. Highlights in a wide ranging palette including coral , light blue, green, pale yellow and ivory are seen in various areas of the rug. A navy blue border with the “Turtle” design frames the field.

This rug is in very good general condition with an area in the field where the pile is thinner. It is priced accordingly and in our moderate price range.
