4.7 x 6.8 Antique Bidjar Rug, Herati Design, Northwest Persia, Kurdistan Province, Circa 1895
An outstanding antique Bidjar rug from northwest Persia’s Kurdistan Province, this piece features a red medallion decorated with Boteh (Paisley shaped motifs) and sky blue flowers on a navy blue field featuring the classical Herati design. Small, ivory corner spandrels and an exceptional border with stylized flowers and scrolling vines frame the field.
The palette in this Bidjar is superb, with yellow, green, sky blue, coral, navy, red and ivory and great saturation of color due to the dye and wool quality.
Finely woven and in excellent condition.
