4.2 x 6.3 Antique Bidjar Rug, Flowerhead Design, Northwest Persia, Circa 1915
An antique Kurdish weaving from the village area of Bidjar in northwest Persia’s Kurdistan province. Woven on a foundation with wool warps, this rug has a substantial heft to it and, with proper care, should be durable even in fairly high traffic areas. The navy blue field is decorated with eight point flowerheads and ancillary stylized flowers in shades of sky blue, coral, brick red and green. Stylized animals also appear in the field. A mid blue border with stylized flowers frames the field.
