10.6 x 13.10 Antique Heriz “Serapi” Carpet, Northwest Persia, Circa 1910
A finely woven antique Heriz carpet near the edge of where we might apply the colloquial term “Serapi” carpet. The brick red field is decorated with a navy blue medallion with ivory, coral and camel color highlights. The field itself is densely patterned but has rectilinear articulation of the motifs. Ivory corner spandrels and a spectacular navy blue border with large leaves and flower heads frame the field.
