3.3 x 16 Antique Serab Runner, Northwest Persia, Circa 1895
An antique Serab runner from Azerbaijan province in northwest Persia. This piece seems older than many Serab rugs or runners, with a wool foundation. The shade of camel used is very pretty and then ancillary colors of green, light blue, coral brick red and ivory blend beautifully with the camel.
Small stylized animals appear in the top medallion and the classic Serab feature of a plain, camel border around the outside of the rug is a great feature.
