4 x 6 Antique Fereghan Sarouk Rug, Central Persia, Circa 1885

This distinctive antique Fereghan Sarouk rug was woven in central Persia, circa 1885. It features an uncommon design of large leaves on a navy blue field with an ivory Quatrefoil medallion. The aesthetic is reminiscent of antique Heriz “Serapi” rugs, reminding us that although they are arguably the finest type of antique Persian village rug, Fereghan Sarouk rugs do remain village weavings, rather than a production from a city carpet workshop, and they retain that free spirit sort of character.

This rug is placed in the living room in a New England home as an accent piece and it brings color and design that gives the room an extra spark.
