5.2 X 8.5 Antique QashQa’i Rug, Southwest Persia, Circa 1900

An antique tribal rug woven by the QashQa’i people in Fars province in southwest Persia. The “abrashed” (variegated) red field is decorated with five navy medallions with light blue sstrapwork framing each. Boteh (Paisley shape motifs) and stylized floral forms also decorate the field. A navy blue border frames the field.
