Very Fine Pair Of Antique QashQa’i Bags, Southwest Persia, Circa 1885

Of the various tribes who were active weavings rugs and bags in south Persia in the 19th century, including the Afshar, Khamseh, Luri, Bakhtiyari and QashQa’i, the QashQa’i weavers tended to produce the most finely woven examples. This superlative pair of bags include their flat woven (kilim) bags and feature saturated colors including the brownish aubergine medallion, green, sky blue, red, yellow and ivory.

The wool is of remarkable quality. They are true textile art.
