4.11 x 6.7 Antique Enjelas Rug, West Persia, Hamadan Province, Circa 1910

Enjelas rugs were woven in Hamadan province in western Persia. Most examples appear to have been woven in the 1920s and 1930s and later. Very occasionally, one sees an earlier example. This piece features a navy blue medallion on a coral color field that is decorated with the classical “Herati” design. Navy blue corner spandrels and a coral border with mid blue guard borders frame the field.

A moderately priced antique rug of an uncommon type and with excellent color quality. Well suited for a beginning collector or decorative use.
