2’11” x 8’9″ Antique Northwest Persian Long Rug, Circa 1875

Antique runners of short to intermediate length, especially those that are also wide (which this rug is not) are sometimes referred to as “long rugs”. This mid 19th century northwest Persian long rug features a classic design of four diagonally oriented leaves around a stylized flowerhead or geometric motif. A “Leaf and Chalice” border frames the field.

This rug is early but has significant restoration, some of it not done to the highest standard. That said, this group of rugs are relatively uncommon and the market has, in general, become more accepting of rugs with condition issues. It is a collectable piece in a mid price range and of a small, very usable size.
