3.6 x 4.9 Antique Kuba Rug, Northeast Caucasian, Circa 1875
This antique northeast Caucasian Kuba rug has a lot of graphic strength for a small weaving. The abrashed navy blue field is decorated with a large medallion with stylized leaves and flowers. Four ivory motifs, reminiscent of early Caucasian Dragon Carpets, decorate the field. A red border with scrolling vine and flower decoration frames the field.
