3.3 x 12.4 Antique Karaja “Serapi” Runner, Circa 1890

This runner has the distinctive, single knotted construction which suggests it was woven in the Heriz district village of Karaja. It is of the age and caliber where rugs from the Heriz district are often referred to colloquially as antique “Serapi” rugs (or room size carpets, or runners).

The abrashed salmon color field is decorated with blue and teal green medallions and ancillary stylized leaves. A Leaf and Flowerhead border frames the field.
