4’8″ x 10’1″ Antique Shirvan Long Rug, Northeast Caucasus, Circa 1885
Wide, short runners are often referred to as “long rugs”. This piece was woven in the Shirvan district in the northeast Caucasus. The light blue field is decorated with five large medallions and ancillary geometric motifs. An ivory major border is complemented by four guard borders.
