5.9 x 10.8 Antique Caucasian Kilim, Circa 1880

Kilims with this pattern of large medallions containing latch hook or animal head medallions in wide bands of color were woven both by Kurds in northwest Persia and by weavers further north in the Caucasus. This example appears to have been woven in the Caucasus. It features a stunning array of colors including denim blue, yellow, coral, brownish aubergine, green, forest green, deep brown and ivory.

It retains much of the original braided end finish.

An outstanding example.
