With a field design closely related to an important signed and dated Mohtashem Kashan carpet featured in a HALI magazine article on Mohtashem Kashan carpets in 2008, this world class Kashan features what is arguably an even more beautiful border. The border in this carpet features ivory Quatrefoil motifs on a navy ground.

Finely woven with thin pile, this elegant antique carpet presents an opportunity for a connoisseur to add a Mohtashem Kashan carpet of the highest caliber to their collection.

Acquired directly from an exceptional New York family collection.

Antique Mohtashem Kashan carpets were woven in central Persia, seemingly from circa 1880 until about 1910. Earlier examples tend to have more rectilinear articulation of the design; a finer, more pliable weave; and thinner pile, resulting in a lighter weight textile.
