5 x 5.10 Antique Heriz Serapi Rug, Northwest Persia, Circa 1900

A highly distinctive small Heriz Serapi rug with a medallion that suggests a village interpretation of the medallion in the world’s most famous carpet, the Ardebil Carpet in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. This Serapi is further distinguished by an ivory field and an abundance of green and yellow. Small Serapi rugs are far less common than their room size counterparts and I find this to be a stunning example.
