4.6 x 6.7 World Class Antique Mohtasham Kashan Rug, Central Persia, Circa 1895

An outstanding antique Mohtasham Kashan rug from central Persia. The distinctive light camel color field contains a navy blue medallion and polychromatic floral decoration. Brick red corner spandrels feature vases, flowers and birds. The extraordinary navy blue major border contains large flower heads and a superb composition with a large, rectilinear flower head well placed in each corner.

Acquired directly from an exceptional New York family collection, this rug is in remarkable condition and an excellent example of the finest type of 19th century Persian rug.
