4.2 x 6.9 Antique Shirvan Rug, Northeast Caucasus, Circa 1895
A charming northeast Caucasian rug from the Shirvan district. The navy blue field is decorated with three latch hook medallions and ancillary geometric motifs, including “snowflake”-like motifs similar to those one might see in antique Karagashli rugs which were woven further north in the Kuba district. This antique Shirvan rug features a wide range of cheerful colors and has a whimsical character making it suitable for a wide range of interiors from traditional to modern.
