3.9 x 5.4 Vintage Bidjar Kilim Rug, Northwest Persia, Circa 1950
Kilims are flat woven rugs, instead of the more conventional pile format.
This kilim was an early addition, purchased perhaps 45 years ago, by clients we have helped for the last 25 to 30 years assemble a world class collection of antique rugs. We are selling it for them on consignment.
Woven in northwest Persia’s Kurdistan province, probably in Bidjar rather than Senneh where kilims were also woven, it features three medallions on a red open field. This rug was exposed to light over time and one side has faded considerably, though to quite nice soft tones. The main photo featured here is the side that has faded while one of the detail photos shows more of the original color.
In a moderate price range, this would good well in a summer home or year round country house, or in a modern interior.
