3’5″ x 4’11” Antique Senneh Rug, Northwest Persia, Circa 1920
A distinctive antique Senneh rug from northwest Persia’s Kurdistan province. The navy blue field contains a large and spaciously drawn red medallion with stylized flowers. The field is decorated with the classical “Herati” design and framed by sky blue corner spandrels with stylized flowers and a red border with heavily stylized floral forms in shades of sky blue, navy, coral, ivory and yellow.
This is not one of the very finely woven Senneh rugs. However, the color quality is excellent and the design uncommon and well articulated. One of our moderate price range rugs, it is a charming example.
