10.3 x 13.3 Antique Heriz “Serapi” Carpet, Northwest Persia, circa 1900
This antique Heriz carpet of the age and quality where carpets from this region are often referred to colloquially as antique “Serapi” carpets features beautiful colors, with a navy blue and coral medallion on a salmon color field. The field is decorated with stylized leaves and flowers and framed by yellow corner spandrels and a navy blue border with the “Turtle” design.
This carpet is in outstanding condition and very reasonably priced for the age and type. The asymmetry of the medallion will bother some people and not others. Placed under a dining room table or other furniture it would also be less noticeable.
