5.7 x 9.2 Antique Bakhtiyari Rug, South Central Persia, Circa 1895
This antique Bakhtiyari rug features a design based on 17th and 18th century Caucasian “Dragon Carpets”. Our friend, James Opie, the world’s foremost expert on south Persian tribal rugs, thought this rug might have been woven by an Armenian weaver living in the area inhabited by Bakhtiyari weavers in south Persia.
