9.7 x 13 Antique Bidjar Lion Carpet, Kurdistan province, Northwest Persia, Circa 1900 – Douglas Stock Gallery Antique Rug Research Archives
Small size antique Bidjar rugs from the “Lion Rug” group are among the most rare types of Persian rugs from the late 19th century. Room size examples are even less common. This carpet features the Lions, leaves and strapwork that are the quintessential format. The navy border is rendered in a distinctive style and the inclusion of two interior guard border and two exteriors guard borders is a nice feature.
