2.9 x 5.1 Antique Bakshaish Rug, Heriz District, Northwest Persia, Circa 1890

These small, open field rugs from the village of Bakshaish in the Heriz district in northwest Persia are uncommon and quite collectible. This piece has very significant restoration, more than we would typically accept, including the plain camel color outer band and the brown lines in it having been rewoven (or perhaps not original at all) and other repiling, reweaving, flat-stitch restoration and/or other repair. However, it is priced accordingly and it is not easy to find these in general.
